Otherwise, they will have to prepare a "dummy" or scapegoat antichrist to obscure the clear prophecies of scripture and to present him as Christ, who has already won.

Jesuits don't care about politics, they care about souls going to heaven. Religious revelation of the kind of Fatima (on a world level) gives INSTANT control, no need for chips or secret agents under your bed. A common enemy that can destroy the planet is INSTANT control.
In other words whatever side of the fence you are on, you are wrong. Just before the Lord comes, there will be evangelists and angels in the sky declaring His gospel and the need to repent. And at that time this "conspiracy theory" will be the obstacle to believing the real Jesus is coming and might put you in the hands of the real Antichrist who is already here.

Well, if scripture is to be taken literally, a lot of the events of revelation are not yet fulfilled. It is Origen who introduced "allegorical" interpretation of scripture(the guy with the alexandrian bible manuscripts). In my opinion the popes are antichrists, however even Pharaoh,Nebuchadnezzar, Alexander, Nero etc are types of the antichrist. Usually, the "protestant" , especially calvinists accuse the baptists of steering attention from the pope, but I don't see anyone else (Reformed and Lutheran churches are dead) pointing to the pope as the ruler of this world, but the fundamentalist baptists. It is true that a lot of people believe in a future antichrist *only*, but that deception is just giving a half truth, not a lie., i.e the full truth is that there will be such a miracle producing person, who has the complete power of Sata and is involved in the ultimate pogrom and persecution of jews and that the RC church is going to be the prime welcomer and supporter of him, if not his "mother", be he a pope or not. A non-literal meaning can produce many historical applications, which might as well be true (70 year destruction of Jerusalem). Bible prophecy isn't limited to one application, for sure. There are prophecies fulfilled 2 or 3 times, often in very different ways.
