UKRAINE: Memorial service held for four murdered Christians

On Sunday 20 July a service was held in the city of Slavyansk, in the volatile Donetsk region, in memory of four Christians killed by pro-Russian separatists on 9 June 2014.
Pastor Peter Dudnyk wrote: "Our brothers have been murdered... The funeral service is today. All the Evangelical churches of the city came together at the funeral service, cancelling their regular worship services. They shot the brothers for believing in the Lord Jesus Christ."
The four murdered Christians were Reuben Pavenko (born 1984), his brother Albert Pavenko (born 1990),
Viktor Bradarsky (born 1974)
and Vladimir Velichko (born 1973). The men were kidnapped on Sunday 8 June after a festive Trinity Sunday service at the Transfiguration Church in Slavyansk, and were taken to the former offices of the Security Service of Ukraine in Slavyansk, which is 145km from the Russian border.
At that time the strategic city was under rebel occupation, which lasted for three months until government forces retook it on 5 July. During the occupation militants in Slavyansk seized several church premises, including those of the Orthodox Church. Interior Minister Arsen Avakov wrote on 7 June, "Blindfolded and bound parishioners are being used as human shields."
Tortured and shot dead
The men's families did not know what had happened to them, and could only wait and pray. It was some weeks before it emerged that, on the night of the kidnapping, the terrorists abused and tortured the four men. In the morning they let them go, and the Christians left by car, driven by one of them. Once they left the city, however, the terrorists chased after them in a vehicle and shot at their car. Three of the Christians jumped out to try to escape, but were shot dead immediately. The driver was killed also, and his body was burned when the militants set the car on fire. They took the bodies and buried them in a mass grave with bodies other victims murdered during the occupation of Slovyansk and bodies of militants killed in clashes with government forces.
The four Christian men leave wives and at least eleven children between them.
Churches targeted
For the past few months, church leaders in eastern Ukraine from various Christian denominations have been threatened, kidnapped, beaten, arrested and even killed, allegedly by pro-Russian separatist militants. Some pastors have fled to western Ukraine. The Pavenko brothers were sons of the church pastor, and one of the other murdered men from Slavyansk was an elder.
A spokesman for Christian Aid Mission said rebels are targeting Christians because they support the Ukrainian government and its security forces, and suggested that the abuse of pastors might be retaliation for congregation members giving food and clothing to Ukrainian soldiers. The relatives of the four murdered Christians from Slavyansk say they had no involvement in politics.
In May, Archpriest Pavel Zhuchenko of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate was shot dead near a roadblock in the Donetsk region. Pro-Russian rebels were blamed for his death. Days later the national bishop of the Ukrainian Church of God was abducted in Slovyansk and held overnight. Militants seized his church building to use as a base for their operations.
Evangelical Church Leaders' Statement
On 8 July a statement was issued in Kiev, signed by the members of the Council of Evangelical Protestant Churches of Ukraine:
"Since the onset of the activisation of the East Ukrainian separatist movements and the so-called proclamation of the Donetsk and Luhansk ‘people's republics' (DNR and LNR), Christians in the eastern regions, especially evangelical religious denominations, are increasingly the victims of religious persecution.
"Targeted attacks have been carried out by armed militants against evangelicals, accompanied by abductions, beatings, torture, threats of execution, pogroms in places of prayer meetings, seizures of houses of worship, rehabilitation centres and other places of worship along with support facilities, with bodily harm inflicted on pastors and priests and damage to their personal property.
"There is factual documentation of the capture and beating of evangelical pastors and ministers occurring in May - June 2014 in Slovyansk, Gorlovka, Donetsk and Druzhkovka. DNR and LNR terrorists not only have been preventing the religious activities of evangelical Christians, they are also taking over the houses of worship to accommodate their own staffs, hospitals and gun emplacements. These incidents have occurred repeatedly in Donetsk and Gorlovka, as well as in Slovyansk, Shakhtersk, Druzhkovka, and Torez in the Donetsk Region and in Luhansk.
"Moreover, on June 14 in a terrorist attack on the bridge in Mariupol, DNR militants killed Pastor Sergey Skorobagach from the Vivification Church, who also served as the Chairman of the City Council of Churches.
"The Council of Evangelical Protestant Churches of Ukraine condemns any discrimination and religious persecution of believers in the Donetsk and Luhansk Regions... We call upon the international community, including the monitoring missions of the UN, OSCE, the Council of Europe and the European Union to make efforts to prevent the continuation and escalation of religious intolerance in the territories of Eastern Ukraine controlled by armed separatists. We are convinced that the entire world community must condemn the oppression of religious freedom in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions, which has reached the level of physical violence against those with dissenting viewpoints, including real mortal threats to evangelical Christians in Eastern Ukraine."

Renzi, Orban and Putin working toghether: Catholic-Fascist Europe every day more near

*   *   *
The following report appears in the ACP bullettin, January 2015:

triple front

In Eastern Ukraine people are affected not only by the war but they are also threatened by the approach of winter. And Christians are exposed to a triple front

Simon Boschmann
Collaborant ACP
Through Skype I am in contact with my friend and pastor. Sergej * [* a fake name to protect the identity of the real person] is the responsible of the community founded by ACP at Lugansk. Togehter with many other Christians he too has been threaned.

Pastors and churches on the target.
Sergej says: "here the Christians are persecuted. Many pastors and leaders of church went threatened and had to flee. Some have been killed, like the four ones in Slaviansk. At the moment it is impossible to tell (confess) in public to be Christian. You would be immediately blamed for being a Western agent of a sectarian person".

Sergej confirms what the refugees of Lugansk and Donetsk already communicated to Waldemar Sardacuzuk, who in November, even more busy, he went again in Ukraine to bring there support and to call a comitee to coordinate our support for the needy.

"In the Lugansk region all the places for prayer have been closed or seized. Every religious group is forbidden". The separatists [Russian ones] ransacked all the roads destroying all the chapels and meeting halls of Protestants. At the vehicles of the terrorists there were hanged icons and images of saints. The declared goal is the one to expell or to kill the "sectarian evangelicals", in Slaviansk as well in other cities.

Refugees as envoys from GOD.
"About 95 percent of the community members are fled", says Sergej. During a visit to Lusk, Waldemar met some of them. One family of theirs found refugee in a burned house which has been put at their disposition free from charges for three years.. They have only to take care of the reconstruction of the house, therefore they accept gratefully the support of ACP. The man was a diacon at Lugansk and now he is enagaged here at Lutsk as responsible for a linked church. He took care about that his pastor was preaching: "Don't think of yourselves as refugee, but as envoys [missionaries] of GOD, proclaiming Jesus Christ and serving the neighbor there where He want you to be!".

The faith is onl trail
Sergej is referring also to spiritual challenges: "before the fleed we were talking a lot about faith. Now, after we lost everything, we are living the faith trusting in God. He has to provide for us because we have now nothing left. Our faith is under a very hard trial, but He never forgives us!".

ACP and Nehemia are supporting the refugees and the aboandoned people in the East. We organize humanitarian transport from ACP Germany, ACP Switzerland and from Ukraine. We help with purchases of building construction material, as windows, doors and roofs to repair the houses for the coming winter.

Sergej tells: "the last week we have brought one ton and half of potatoes in East Ukraine. Many peopole cried. It was a miracle that the delivery reached the destination.".

"God doesn't abandon us!" trusts Sergej in God and he is very grateful for our help. Let's go at the side of our brothers and sistes on all the fronts".

Above image - page 8 of the bulletin Azione per i Cristiani Perseguitati e Bisgnosi /Action for Persecuted and Needy Christians - ACP, describing the condition of threat and persecution against the not-Orthodox and not-Catholic Christians in the Eastern "secessionist" Ukrainian republics. Christians are accused to be "sectarian" or "agents of the West".

  1. I recall that in the first stages of the war, several pastors were killed (i dont know if they were pentecostal or baptist). The orthodox henchmen are really bloodthirsty, just look at Serbia, a country where muslims, catholics and evangelicals basically have no representation in society (muslims do have some presence and freedoms, because of large numbers and fear of more conflict) . I have a friend pastor in serbia and he has hardly any converts, probably even 0, the place is a graveyard

Four parishioners abducted by terrorists in Slavyansk amid reports of fire opened from a Protestant temple

Parishioners of the Transfiguration Church were abducted during the Holy Trinity Day service on Sunday, June 8, 2014 by a group of pro-Russian separatists in the battle-ridden town of Slavyansk in Donetsk Region, reports Tatiana Lysenko, their co-parishioner, in Twitter.

"Rueben Pavenko, Alber Pavenko, Victor Brodarsky and Vladimir Velichko were taken out of the Transfiguration Church during the serice and taken to the building of the former Slavyansk Department of the Security Service of Ukraine”, wrote Ms. Lysenko.

According to the data obtained from Pastor Pyotr Dudnik, the separatists opened fire from heavy guns stationed right on the grounds of the Glad Tidings Church in Slavyansk.

According to earlier reports, Nona artillery mount captured by the militants was standing there. The militants also use the premises of the Russian Orthodox Church for the locating of firing points.

Blindfolded parishioners are being tied in order to make up a human shield, wrote on June 7 Arsen Avakov, Minister of the Internal Affairs of Ukraine, in Facebook.

The armed forces do not use weapons against civilians, stated Vladislav Seleznev, Head of the Press Center of the Anti-Terrorist Operation, on June 8, 2014 in an interview to 112 Ukraine TV Channel.

"Regardless of the conditions, the military men do not use weapons against civilians, nor fire at residential neighborhoods and at concourses. We attack only the militants and their block posts defeating them by means of accurate firepower", said Seleznev.

As for the Merchant House café fully destroyed by the Ukrainian artillery troops, it had been used as permanent station by the pro-Russian terrorists according to the information from the power ministries.

As reported earlier, on June 8 the militants were firing at the positions of the Ukrainian Army from the residential neighborhoods in order to cause the retaliation fire hitting civilian targets.

Moreover, the militants deliberately shell the town from its outskirts so as to later accuse the Ukrainian authorities of casualties among the civilian population.

i understand this cause the strong Serbian community in Trieste and related church. Many of these Serbs are extremly rogue, ideological thugs, an: they ar3 used to fill the every day larger void after the slow disappearing Slovenian presence in the city, under a clear Italian assent which prefer to replace Slovenians with Serb, just because Slovenian identity is born with the Reformation of Primoz Trubar 2ho was influenced by archbishop of Trieste Bonomo, who showed to his pupil Trubarth3 wwritings of Calvin.
The Serbs, for the master of Italy, are the perfect spiritual''napalm'' to reduce in ashes the heritage of the true Reformation in Trieste, whose core is the spiritual entente between Italians and Slovenians

    EVERYONE RELEASED EXCEPT PROTESTANTS

Four well-known Muslim activists jailed for the exercise of their right to liberty of conscience and religious confession were released in Uzbekistan in February after serving most of their long terms of imprisonment.

Baptist Tokhar Khaydarov remains the only well-known non-Muslim prisoner of conscience jailed for the exercise of his right to liberty of conscience and religious confession. He has been serving a 10-year prison sentence since March 2010 after an alleged drug-related conviction. However his Brothers in faith insisted that the case was a frame-up. The Supreme Court rejected an appeal against the conviction.

On 23 February fellow Baptists from Tashkent told that they had been visiting Tokhar several times in a year and that his physical condition had been fine. In 2014 he had petitioned for pardon but the petition was rejected because of the allegations on the part of the prison administration that Tokhar had violated the prison rules. Nevertheless, the Baptists hope for his release after one half of his prison term in 2016.

Let us remind you of Tokhar’s full address. You may write a letter of invigoration to him:

BAPTIST SERVICE INTERRUPTED BY POLICE IN THE TOWN OF SVETLOGORSK, BELARUS

Worship service of IUCECB Church was taking place in late May in a private house located at Parichskaya Street 4а, Svetlogorsk, Gomel Region, Belarus. At 10:20 a.m. two plain-clothed individuals literally broke into the house and started recording the service with a video camera. They did not respond to a request to show their credentials or other documents, they were walking around the hall with the camera and speaking on the mobile phones thus disturbing the peaceful course of the service. Then 11 armed individuals in police uniform entered the building shouting: “Everyone Freeze!”. The operation was led by Police Major Vyacheslav Kozhedub.

During the kneeling prayers they came up to Presbyter Vladimir Daineko, ordered him to rise up from his knees and read the prescript of Public Prosecutor V.A. Tarasenko on the inspection of residential premises. Brother Vyacheslav refused to read this paper. He was then forcibly taken to the local interior department where an administrative offense report was drawn up against him under parts 1 and 2 of Article 23.34 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Republic of Belarus (“Failure to comply with the established order of holding rallies, street processions, manifestations, pickets…”).

Administrative offense report under the same Article was drawn up against Brother Yuri Volodenko. Details of everyone present at the service were written down.

This service was held in a private house, so it cannot fall under Article 23.34 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Republic of Belarus, all the more so that, as stated in the RB Constitution, “everyone shall have the right to independently determine his attitude towards religion, to profess any religion individually or jointly with others, or to profess no religion at all…” (Article 31).

On 08.06.2015 Judge I.V. Pradun of Svetlogorsk District Court, having reviewed the administrative offense reports, ruled to impose the fine of 3,600,000 BYR (233 US Dollars) on Brothers Vladimir Daineko and Yuri Volodenko.

  5. As regard myself i m constantly target of mobbing, with the complicit assent of the hyerarchies. For example they change the chairs in your working place, forcing you to change habits, meanwhile others are gramted privileges. Then if you start to have confidence with a person, suddenly this person is moved away from you. Your wage can be diminished by an arbitrary decision, meanwhile otjers see their income increase a lot. But this is Italy, the country which assassinated Christians and continue to do that. Very friendly with Russia.

We need to rise above this mess and preach. I have been mislead by satan to think by writing too many things, i have performed a good duty as a christian. The spoken word, thats where the power truly comes from. A good speaker is worth a 1000 writers. Not that we are good speakers by nature (at least me), but the power of the Holy Ghost will condemn and save sinners as we go. We only need to GO. In Luke there's clear that the room is not infinitely enormous (=predestination) and that the ones who have a seat in it are the one living on the edges and highway and the maimed and the lame. There are many of "last ones" and we are used by GOD to search them, not with words in a blog but in the true life.

    11. Yes. I believe God has infinite love towards those who He'll save from Hell. This is reason enough to exert our utmost strength to find them. Like the silver coin in the gospel of Luke. God ise jealous to save His own in the right time and we better be the instruments for that , even if it means it is one person.

      Luke 15:8

    12. I hope you say my post on faith and salvation. Unbelief is basically the capstone, the summation of sin. If Christ has died for a person, he cannot and will not miss salvation [as the Waldenses said]. Because sin is missing or failing to perform the commandments of God, to believe and repent is a commandment, and as people cannot perform the law, they fail to perform faith to grasp/understand the gospel even more miserably. But those, for whom Christ has died, become free from the sin of disbelief. Therefore they are sometimes violently plucked out of the hand of Satan, who is helpless to stop it, with God granting them all the promises of the new covenant, when the light in them is increased through faith.

      Delete
    13. When i realised that salvation is complete and it includes faith without regard to the person's inclinations and preferences (and sins), this lifted a burden off my heart. God will save among those, who listen, if we preach the gospel correctly (and they will be there, among us to listen).

      Delete
    14. There are no ifs and buts in the new covenant. It is a promise. When God promised it to the jews, they were at their worst. God simply said "you have hit rock bottom; so I will make you believe and turn and do as I please".

      An illustration of free-willism:

You are shot in the stomach. You find a sports car and drive to the hospital. Who has saved you? You or the car manufacturer? You have the greater glory, because you have NAVIGATED through the streets and have reached the hospital (you have made the right choice/choices to save yourself).

But with God, The Lord is the driver (God leads you to faith and repentance)

      Delete
    15. Therefore, when God said "if then I be a father, where is mine honour?" (Mal 1:6) this honour is lost with free-willism. Because

      "John 6:45

It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God. Every man therefore that hath heard, and hath learned of the Father, cometh unto me."

We have been taught the right way by the Father, not by ourselves or man.
