Regarding himself as called to restore the pure Christianity of Paul (of Tarsus), he adopted the name Silvanus (one of Paul's disciples) and about the year 660 founded his first congregation at Kibossa in Armenia. Twenty-seven years afterwards he was arrested by the Imperial authorities, tried for heresy and stoned to death.[8]
Simeon, the court official who executed the order, was himself
converted and adopting the name Titus became Constantine’s successor. He
was burned to death (the punishment pronounced upon the Manichaeans) in 690.[8]

Baanes was supplanted by Sergius-Tychicus in 801, who was very active for thirty-four years. His activity was the occasion of renewed persecutions on the part of Leo the Armenian. In 856 Karbeas and his people took refuge with the Arabs in the territory around Tephrike and joined forces with Umar al-Aqta, emir of Melitene (who reigned 835-863).[14] Karbeas was killed in 863 in Michael III's campaign against the Paulicians, and was possibly with Umar at Malakopea before the battle of Lalakaon.
His successor, Chrysocheres, devastated many cities; in 867 he advanced as far as Ephesus, and took many priests as prisoners.[15][16] In 868 the Emperor Basil I dispatched Petrus Siculus
to arrange for their exchange. His sojourn of nine months among the
Paulicians gave him an opportunity to collect many facts, which he
preserved in his History of the empty and vain heresy of the Manichæans, otherwise called Paulicians. The propositions of peace were not accepted, the war was renewed, and Chrysocheres was killed at Bathys Ryax.
The power of the Paulicians was broken. Meanwhile other Paulicians,
sectarians but not rebels, lived in communities throughout the empire. Constantine V had already transferred large numbers of them to Thrace.[17]
According Theophanes, the Paulicians of Armenia were moved to Thrace,
in 747, in order to strengthen the Bulgarian frontier with a reliable
population.[18]

It was only the cruelty and wickedness of the Catholicism to push persecuted Christians to find shelter even among Muslims. Then Gioacchino Fiore, a scribe of the Great Pharisee nested in Vatican ("pope") did the literary dirty job in to slander those Christians, haunted, tortured, assassinated by the Catholic Army of Hell.
But we have more interesting things to discover about and around the persecution of Paulicians.
Similarly as Albigenses, Cathars, Vaudoises, etc. who were slandered yesterday as well today by the cultural CIA (Catholics In Action, both with a knife in their hand as well with a keyboard of a computer), presenting them as "Arian", "Manichean", "Zoroastrian" and only-Satan-knows which else particular gnostic perversion, so also it happened and happens for the Paulicians.

He stayed in the Paulician city of Tephrike/Tibrica, now Divrigi in Turkey, on the upper Euphrates, for nine months. While there he wrote his Historia Manichaeorum qui Pauliciani dicuntur, which is one of the main sources for the history of the Paulician sect.
The Historia Manichaeorum was first published by Rader in Ingolstadt in 1604.

That it deals with slandering, it is obvious. Just only after a quick survey of the historical documented facts it is possible to ascertain that there were no need of any scholar to understand which kind of doctrine the Paulicians were teaching and following. Bright it appears that they were so much spread and for so long time that everyone there living could know their doctrine.
BUT just for this reason there was no treatise on them till the moment Petrus Siculus, in order to deal with some hostages priests, sojourned in their state. Orthodoxies did hate them very much and I don't believe cause Manichean doctrines.
[Of course to make the deduction on how much the Jesuit "hostage" of today - Fr. Paolo Dall'Oglio SJ - in the hands of "fundamentalists" of Islam is another theatrical boutade of the Catho-gnosticism alluding to those ancient Orthodox priests hostages of Paulicians (Paulicians-ISIS, Orthodox priests-Dall'Oglio, Guilty by Association? Bread for Stiliyanov's teeth here), I leave it to your understanding ].
What interest to me to deal with in this post is to underline the perfidy of the Byzantyne Orthodox Catholicism which, being likely doctrinally framed by the Paulicians Christians who, with their example of Christian life being under the eyes of everyone were seriously puzzling the Caste of Orthodox priests, thought well to "discover" the "truth" behind the Christian "appearance" of the everywhere spread Paulicians with a "scoop" by one of their agit-prop scribes, Petrus Siculus.
I can imagine the slogan for the launch of the Siculus' treatise on the Paulicians: "This is the hidden truth Paulicians are hiding under the veil of a false Christian doctrine but when hidden in their state, they exhibit it without shame: the Satanic doctrine of Manicheans! So let's do a crusade to wipe 'em away from the earth these children of Satan who are accusing us poor Orthodoxies to be heretics!".

Adam Weishaupt was born in Ingolstadt, Bavaria (Germany) to Johann
Georg Weishaupt (1717–1753) Professor of Law at the Jesuit controlled
University of Ingolstadt. When his father died in 1753, he was adopted
by his godfather Johann Adam Freiherr von Ickstatt who took up his
father's position at the University.
Weishaupt later enrolled at the University of Ingolstadt and
graduated in 1768 at age 20 with a doctorate of law. In 1772 he became a
professor of law. The following year he married Afra Sausenhofer of
Eichstätt.
On the suppression of the Jesuits by Pope Clement XIV in 1773, his
life changed dramatically. He decided to join the Jesuits, now seeking

and set about supporting his Jesuit brothers hiding from persecution.

All this successive anxiety of the Jesuits in to continue to publish the old Orthodox slander against the Paulicians not only fits with the re-building of the Czar throne in Russia having in sight the End of the 1054 Schism for the Super-Catholicism ruling the world, but just tell us about the worries of the Jesuits who knew about the doctrinal Christian essence of Paulicians and were frightened to see "ancient Protestant" just in the land of the Catholicism they wanted to take back in the Romish herd.

The best source describing the Paulicians as "not Trinitarian" and "adoptionists" (being the accuse of Manichean doctrine too weak) comes from a Catholic bishop of England (in this case "bishop" is not a clergy charge, he was lay professor of theology) - Frederick Cornwallis Conybeare - a man of course interested in the diffusion of the perverted Alexandrine revision of the Bible by the Two False Witnesses Westcott & Hort. In fact Conybeare was 26 years old when the ugly fetus of the WH New Testament was published pardon, aborted......

"Nowhere used"? Is this really a proof of Adoptionism when there's such a lack of sources and the few ones are easily manipulated?

Paulicians were true Christians and members of the perpetual church of Christ from the Apostolic age till our days, together with Vaudoises, Cathars, Albigenses, Anabaptists, Baptists etc.
They may have been some deviations from the doctrine, like others denominations, but in comparison the Catholic and Orthodox churches were and are truly the church of Satan (and sometimes also, even if in very less measure, some pedo-baptist Protestant Reformed denominations).
The way in which Paulicians could survive for a longer period of time (similarly as the Vaoudoises) demonstrates that they were protected by the power of God and in those centuries were true legitime representatives of that woman of the chapter 12 of Revelation, the church of Christ.
