I post here two interessant historical articles about the deep intertwining between Zionism and Fascism as follow up of the previous post which, if you have not read or at least given a quick look at, I invite you to do so before to read the English translations of two Italian articles by author Saverio Paletta :

These articles are propedeutic for another post that will be published in Spirit of His Mouth blog.
But we have already here some elements that can shape the form of the truth that will better outlined in detail in the future. On October 1946 the terrorist Zionist organization Irgun blew up the British embassy in Rome. The claim for the attack :
On November 4th, they mailed the classic claim document from the post office in Piazza San Clodio. More intriguing than the document itself is the signature on the shipping form: Iacobotinski. A distortion, undoubtedly deliberate. But it goes far beyond an allusion. As Italian investigators, duly prodded by the British, know well.
Indeed, the Irgun had been present (and operational) in Italy since shortly before the end of the war. And they gained support and followers in the numerous refugee camps that housed many of their fellow Jews who survived the Holocaust. [see below in the article "Attack in Rome: Fascist Bombs and Zionist Terrorists"]
This is the smoking gun which confirms the Holocaust of WW2 as the only means able to convince the mainstream world Jew to support the construction of the Israel of the Devil (14th May 1948). Before the WW2 Holocaust most of Jews were indifferent, laughing at or (the most religious, the Orthodox Jews) extremly hostile to the Zionist perversion, a rebellion against God's command to live in exile until the Lord comes :
"....The destruction of the Jews of diaspora in Eurasia was FOUNDATIONAL to the creation of the modern "state of Israel"....."

WW2 Holocaust necessary to build today's ZombIsrael ("modern nation of Israel")
https://control-avles-blogs.blogspot.com/2025/12/ww2-holocaust-necessary-to-build-todays.html
In Italy the climate is turning darker. More right wing Catholic parties are emerging from the absence of the slightest form of Christian true faith in a pagan society. Beside from being pro-Putin, pro-Russia, the new political movements are strongly Zionists. An openly declared Fascist general, Vannacci, is emerging into notoriety of the political life and is heavily stirring the feeling of fear many Italians have in front of the immigration. The climate is not only turning darker and evil, but evermore intolerant. The true author of this fall of Italy in the deadly seduction of the Fascist past, is the Devil. The Devil is using the political arena to mask with political ideology the religious regime he is building in Italy, the blasphemous "cult of the nation". Of course it happened already with Mussolini. But the Devil continually is trying to prepare the way for his son of perdition, the Final Antichrist. Those very few true Christians, who are messianic, have to expect the arrival of the "hour of temptation". They have to pray evermore in ordere the Christ will give them more of His Spirit to strengthen their spiritual life and resist the immense pressure that soon, after a "regime change" will occur in Italy, will fall on them.
Born again Christians must never forget that they are not of this world, and that they have to rejoice when this world hates them. Nations and ethnic groups are part of this world and a Christian is forbidden to worship them under any form, under any moral cohercion. Christians must never forget that they are strangers and pilgrims on this earth, they must never forget that they are already citizens of a nation, the invisible (for now) Kingdom of God and that it is absolutely impossible and an abomination to God to try to get "double passport", one for the Kingdom of God and another for the kingdom of the "god of this world", the Devil. God warned us already when he said to us that we cannot stay on the table of the Lord and at the same time on the table of the Devil. The only "nation" to which a Christian is a worshipper, is the nation which comes without observation, which is inside the Christian soul, the Kingdom of God, a place where this world of vanity cannot enter, because the Spirit of Christ lives inside us.
When the Messianic Christian will be forced to join the religious mass adoration of a nation or any other group of this world, he must recall the words of Jesus who said that He is not come to bring peace on earth, but the division and the sword. Of course the sword He was talking was not the material sword or weapon of the guerilleros, but the word of God which is the Bible, the most powerful and dangerous weapon ever existed in the world because divides the things of God from the things of this world more decisively than any two-edged sword. When Jesus said that His kingdom now is not of this world, He didn't mean that it will come in the future because now is absent. No. But He said that His Kingdom is within the soul of the ones that are His flock now. Who are forbidden to give heed, respect, recognizement to any man who pretend to be Christ's representative on earth. We have Christ within us, and it is Christ who commands us to unmask false Christs, false prophets, and false priests of God :
1 John 2:27
“But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.”

The X Mas and Israel: Those Merry "Comrades" of Zion

After the war, emissaries of Jewish agencies recruited Borghese's men to outwit the British and defend themselves from the Arabs. Behind this strange relationship between former fascists and Jews, often Holocaust survivors, lies the previous bond between Jabotinsky, the noble father of the Zionist right, and Mussolini, which was severed by the racial laws. And there is the frontline commitment of a determined woman: Ada Sereni.
It is the early morning hours of October 23, 1948. A series of booms shakes the stretch of the Mediterranean near Gaza. Within minutes, a military ship lists on its side and sinks.
It's the El Emir Farouk, the flagship of the Egyptian Navy, which, with the help of a minesweeper, is attempting to resupply its infantry troops by sea, surrounded on land by the Israeli Army. During the same assault, the minesweeper is also disabled.
Not far away, the Ma'oz, an Israeli corvette, is moored. On board is the mastermind of this daring and deadly assault: Israeli civil authorities believe he is a Romanian Jew seeking refuge in the Promised Land. But the passport, on which the man is registered as Mr. Katz, is a fake.
In reality, he is a retired Italian Navy soldier: his name is Fiorenzo Capriotti, a 38-year-old from the Marche region.
He planned the attack on the Egyptian ships, conducted with three MTMs (Modified Tourist Motorboats), very fast boats with explosives at the tips.
The protagonist of the typically Italian kamikaze attack is Group B 10, formed specifically for this operation. It is composed of two teams.
The explosive boats are piloted by three pilots with kibbutz backgrounds: Yohai Ben Nun, team leader (and future Chief of Staff of the Israeli Navy), Zalman Abramov, and Yakov Vardi.
Itzhak Brokman and Yakov Reitov, meanwhile, pilot the recovery vessel. Once the Arab-Israeli conflict is over, Group B 10 will merge with Shayetet 13, a commando unit still operational today.
Let's dwell on this unusual name.
The number is a tribute to a bizarre military superstition of these commandos, who gather on the 13th of each month to commemorate their comrades fallen in action. Shayetet, on the other hand, stands for flotilla.
The reference to another famous corps of naval fighters and commandos couldn't be more blatant (and, as they say today, politically incorrect). It refers, in fact, to the Italian Decima MAS flotilla, or Prince Junio Valerio Borghese's X MAS. That is, the corps from which Capriotti and all the other Italian trainers of the Israeli commandos hail.
A question, at this point, is mandatory: what are fascist soldiers doing in Israel? Be careful: saying "they're just soldiers" isn't an answer. At least, not a complete answer.
Those fascists at the court of Jerusalem
Captain Third Class, Fiorenzo Capriotti in 1948 was a veteran of the military with significant operational experience.
A veteran of virtually all the fascist wars, he earned distinction in the Decima, with which he participated in two extremely important operations: the attack on Souda Bay on March 25, 1941, and the tragic (and glorious) attack on Malta on July 25.
On this occasion, Capriotti was taken prisoner by the British and spent the rest of the war in Allied concentration camps: first in Scotland, then in Missouri and Hawaii. He endured his imprisonment without batting an eyelid as a non-cooperator. That is, as a simple prisoner, refusing to provide help or information to his captors.
He returned home in 1946 and became politicized: he immediately joined the MSI, the only political party that had room for a veteran of the Tenth Party, becoming its leader and running for office in the 1948 general election.
Giovanni Buttazzoni, known as Nino, the commander of the NP
Even more politicized was his superior, Giovanni Buttazzoni, known as Nino, who did not participate in the operations in Israel because he was a fugitive.
Captain of the Italian Navy's Naval Engineers, Trieste-born Buttazzoni was practically the second in command of the Decima, within which he created a specialty: the Parachute Swimmers, a corps of raiders-saboteurs specialized in amphibious operations and beyond behind enemy lines.
The NP would cause the Allies no small amount of trouble during their ascent up the peninsula. Indeed, Buttazzoni wasn't taken prisoner, but continued to fight with the Decima, then joined the Italian Social Republic, like his commander Borghese. Toward the end of the war, he was a key player in various operations on the eastern border and led some very harsh raids.
After the conflict was over (and lost), Captain Buttazzoni surrendered to the British and then escaped. He ended up a fugitive in Rome, where he nevertheless participated, along with Arturo Michelini, Pino Romualdi, Giorgio Almirante, and Prince Valerio Rio Pignatelli della Cerchiara and others, to the activities of the Senate, the clandestine neo-fascist nucleus from which the Italian Social Movement arose. While still a fugitive, the Trieste officer was at the center of a delicate triangulation between the US OSS, the nascent Mossad, and the Italian Navy's Secret Intelligence Service (SIS).
Among the operational protagonists of this curious (and secret) relationship between Italy and Israel were Captain Geo Calderoni and Lieutenant Nicola Conte, a specialist in underwater operations and, above all, in the use of slow-moving torpedoes (SLCs), also known as Maiali, a terrifying and treacherous weapon that the British Royal Navy had to contend with during the three-year naval war against Italy.
In the center of the photo: Prince Junio Valerio Borghese
Agostino Calosi: an admiral as a director
The absolute director of this collaboration is Agostino Calosi, frigate captain and later admiral.
Born in Florence in 1902, Calosi participated as commander of various MAS units (here we go again...) in several important military operations in the eastern Mediterranean.
Following the armistice of September 8, he joined the Kingdom of the South and joined the SIS.
Thanks to his command role in this structure (which, along with the RSI's SID, is what remains of the Italian secret services), the high-ranking officer conducted his own triangulation, worthy of a novel by a particularly talented Le Carrè.
He communicated remotely with Prince Borghese, recruiting one of his emissaries and simultaneously sending his own emissaries to the North. He also collaborated with James Jesus Angleton, head of the OSS (the future CIA) in Italy.
The rationale behind this triple game, which the leaders of the Monarchy (and also of the Italian Social Republic) were no strangers to, is quite clear: to safeguard the stability of the institutions as much as possible and to try to get Italy out of the conflict, which was drawing to a close with a foregone conclusion, with as few broken bones as possible.
To this end, the aim was to completely align Italy with the anti-communist front, salvaging, for this purpose, everything possible from the fascist regime, as historian Giuseppe Parlato so effectively recounts in his classic book, Fascisti senza Mussolini (Il Mulino, Bologna 2006). Either on this side or on that, in short. And for many, saving the Duce's followers was less harmful than risking falling into Stalin's clutches.
Angleton: Cold War Technical Rehearsals
Angleton, part of a coalition of American institutions that understood that today's ally, Stalin's USSR, was about to become tomorrow's enemy, agreed. And so it reacts with a ferocious anti-communism that helps sow the seeds of the now imminent bipolar world order.
James Jesus Angleton: the father of the CIA
To whom everything can be sacrificed, including the now twilight empires of France and Great Britain, bled dry by the war and incapable of containing the expansionist force of the USSR and, above all, the Comintern.
In this paradoxical situation—where two victors are almost broke and full of rubble—the defeated, especially Italy and Germany, have much to gain. And those who are not yet fully political entities, but are the product of the often superhuman efforts of those who have suffered the most, have much to gain: Israel, which, in order to become a state and survive, does not mince its words.
Ada Sereni: a woman with balls
This story also has a heart, but above all a brain, a female one: that of Ada Sereni, née Ascarelli.
A scion of a very wealthy Jewish family from Rome's upper classes (whose ancestors included the Renaissance poet Debora Ascarelli), Ada attended the Liceo Mamiani with great success. There she met another scion of Rome's Jewish bourgeoisie: Enzo Sereni, a descendant of a professional family closely associated with the House of Savoy (his father, Samuele, was the physician to Victor Emmanuel III).
The two young people married at the age of twenty and then, passionate about the Zionist cause, left for Palestine, where, in 1928, they were among the founders of Givat Brenner, one of Israel's most important kibbutzim.
The couple had four children, but the war disrupted their peace of mind: Enzo, known for his activism, enlisted in the British Army and carried out missions everywhere. One of them proved fatal, and it happened in Italy itself, where he was parachuted into Italian Social Republic territory.
Captured by the SS, he ended up in Dachau, where he was shot in 1944.
Ada Sereni
But Ada, as the war drew to a close, was unaware of this. So she went to Italy to search for her husband.
After the war, she remained in Rome as head of the Jewish Agency and Mossad agent. In this dual role, she managed two important operations: Aliyah Beth, the illegal immigration of Jews to Palestine, and the self-defense of the nascent state of Israel from two dangers: the Arabs, who were beginning to organize to militarily oppose the newcomers, and the British, who refused to even hear of Jewish states in their administered Palestine.
To this end, Ada Sereni contacted leading Italian politicians, starting with Alcide De Gasperi, so that our authorities would turn a blind eye to the activities of Israeli patriots in Italy, which in the immediate postwar period was overflowing with Jewish refugees who had survived the concentration camps and wanted to emigrate to Palestine because they had lost practically everything in Europe.
Geo Calderoni: The Knight of the Sea
Ada Sereni recounted her commitment to clandestine emigration to the Promised Land in her autobiographical novel, I clandestini del mare (Mursia, Milan 2005).
One of the protagonists of this escape from Europe was Captain Geo Calderoni, also a veteran of the Decima. Calderoni did not engage in warfare, but he guided boats loaded with refugees up and down the Mediterranean, circumventing the Royal Navy's extremely strict surveillance.
This activity, as well as the methods used to recruit former marines, is powerfully documented in Solo per la bandiera (Mursia, Milan 2019), Nino Buttazzoni's autobiography.
Here is what the founder of the NP wrote:
"[…] I was invited to contact the coordination center for Israeli intelligence services in Rome. It was headed by Mrs. Sereni, with whom I had a long conversation. […] The assignment appealed to me, also because it meant competing again with the British, who were determined to oppose the landing of Jews in Palestine. […] but now I have a family to think about, and a quiet job offers better prospects […] I decline, but I suggest approaching various National Guard officers from both the North and the South. Some are hired to lead boats, like Captain Geo Calderoni, who will repeatedly manage to outwit the British with skill and courage.
Aside from praising the skill of this chivalrous and humanitarian smuggler, one thing emerges from Buttazioni's story: the Israelis really want the Decima marines. Is it just their skill, or is there more to it?
Fascism and Menorah: A Zionist Short Circuit
Rereading some aspects of the history of the twenty-year period, it seems that the infamous chapter of the racial laws was above all an abrupt interruption in a relationship that was, on the contrary, positive not only between the regime and the Jews tout court, but also between fascism and Zionism.
The protagonist, in this case, is a brilliant and polemical intellectual: Vladimir Yevgenyevich Jabotinsky (also known as Jabotinsky), a Russian lawyer and journalist of Jewish origin.
In open conflict with the official Zionist world, Jabotinsky founded the Zionist Revisionist Party and its youth movement, Bethar, in 1930.
Vladimir Jabotinsky
This latter group was dedicated, in particular, to the naval and military training of young Jews. They were trained in two countries: Latvia, not yet swallowed up by the USSR, and Fascist Italy.
As for Italy, at the time not yet subjugated by Germany and Nazism, the chosen location was Civitavecchia, where a good naval school had existed since the 1920s.
Radical more in his methods (which would later inspire the paramilitary and terrorist organization Irgun Tzvai Leumi) than in his ideas, Jabotinsky dreamed of a State of Israel where Jews and Arabs could coexist with perfect civil and political equality.
Cynical and unscrupulous, Jabotinsky was also an admirer of fascism and Mussolini, who at the time were setting a precedent among nationalists and anti-colonial movements (i.e., anti-British and anti-French), much as the Risorgimento had done sixty years earlier.
Cynical and unscrupulous people were made to understand each other: Mussolini, who welcomed the idea of an independent Jewish state in the Eastern Mediterranean (indeed, he considered it a potential adversary of perfidious Albion and, therefore, an ally of Italy), personally endorsed the operation.
Thus, within the Civitavecchia school, a Jewish Nautical School was founded, funded by Lloyd Trieste and entrusted to Nicola Fusco, a captain in the merchant navy and a renowned scholar of nautical sciences. An aesthetic detail symbolizes this special bond between the youth of Bethar and Fascist Italy: the Jewish cadets' uniforms feature a menorah, embroidered next to the fasces.
The racial laws fell like a cleaver on this relationship between Italy and Israel. But the fruits were there nonetheless: the young men who trained in Civitavecchia would form the backbone of the Israeli Navy. And, when the time came, they would remember their fascist masters.
An explosive dinghy
The hunt for equipment and pilots
Let's return to the postwar period. Once available veterans had been found, a problem remained: how to obtain the explosive dinghies and slow-moving torpedoes that made the Decima famous?
Volodia Izkovitz, a commander of the nascent Israeli Navy, will supply them.
Izkovitz found an MTM in Livorno in 1948 and discovered who had designed and manufactured it: Cabi Cattaneo, a company from Milan.
The officer then traveled to the Lombardy capital to meet with engineer Giustino Cattaneo, the company's owner. Just in time: without orders, the factory was on the verge of bankruptcy. Izkovitz offered the engineer a contract worth fifty million lire at the time for a total of thirty small boats divided into three lots: a welcome relief.
Thanks to the efforts of Captain Capriotti, this industrial relationship also deepened after the success of Gaza. This time, the protagonist was Guido Cattaneo, Giustino's son, also an engineer and, above all, with some military experience: during the war, he served in the Tenth Infantry as a reserve officer.
Israeli Saboteurs in Action
The Italian Navy fills the Israeli Navy with small boats and pigs, which contribute to the military success of the young state.
Italy-Israel: A Strange Relationship
Mussolini's Zionism, not yet subservient to Hitler, was unremarkable: the Duce was simply interpreting a national geopolitical vision that dated back to the Risorgimento.
According to this interpretation, Italy should have carved out a role for itself as a major regional power, independent from the great empires (British and French) that dominated the Mediterranean, if possible taking advantage of their mutual rivalries and leveraging national liberation movements.
A similar argument applies to Alcide De Gasperi, who agrees to help Ada Sereni not only out of guilt over the racial laws, but above all to carve out autonomous spaces for the politics of an Italy that was not yet admitted to NATO and was being closely monitored by France and the UK. To escape this grip, the only way is to align ourselves with the US vision and help the nascent State of Israel.
Italian foreign policy (while we had one) has never been a politics of power, despite Mussolini's rhetoric. On the contrary, it has always been a politics of survival, so Italy had an Israeli wife and an Arab lover to avoid being crushed by its European partners, dangerous as enemies (and it was evident) but cumbersome as friends.
God damn the English? The men of the Tenth said so, the Israelis repeated it. And so, reaching an agreement was very easy.

Attack in Rome: Fascist Bombs and Zionist Terrorists

Two TNT charges detonated the British Embassy in Rome, fortunately without causing any deaths. It was the first attack in Europe by Israeli Irgun terrorists, who allied themselves with Pino Romualdi's neo-fascists for the occasion...
It was just after 2:00 a.m. on October 31, 1946. Rome, like almost all of Italy, was still licking the wounds of the war that had ended just over a year and a half earlier.
The scene unfolded on Via XX Settembre, near Porta Pia. Men were going to Villa Bracciano, the site of the British Embassy.
They split into two groups: the first scrawled swastikas in paint on the main wall of the building; the second placed two suitcases in front of the entrance door.
A driver working for the embassy notices the suitcases, becomes suspicious, and enters through the back entrance to report the strange bulk to security personnel.
Too late: a roar pierces the air and the silence of the night. The front walls of Villa Bracciano crumble, and the windows of neighboring houses also shatter.
An Italian soldier and an ordinary citizen crossing Via XX Settembre are seriously injured in the explosion. But fortunately, no one inside the embassy is hurt. Above all, Ambassador Noel Charles (the main target of the attack, as Italian investigators would later determine) is not injured because he is on leave at the time.
Fascist Red Herring: Communist and Slavic Bombs
A little over twenty-four hours have passed since the explosion rocked Rome. And now the first political reactions are arriving, just after the news broke.
The first to speak out in the press about the embassy bombings was Ezio Maria Gray, a prominent member of the Senate, as the clandestine nucleus of Italian neo-fascism proclaimed itself, from which the Italian Social Movement would emerge less than two months later.
A highly decorated veteran of the Italo-Turkish conflict and the Great War, but above all a veteran journalist with important roles during the Regime (he was president of the Istituto Luce and the EIAR), Gray's words are not casual.
Hence, his statements, according to which the bombs on Via XX Settembre were planted by Slavic communist elements living in Rome, are highly unusual. But Gray doesn't stop there. Indeed, he adds a passage that is, to say the least, cryptic: "From my conversations with Allied figures, it appears to me that we are now at loggerheads."
Intellectuals in Libya: from left, Filippo Tommaso Marinetti, Ezio Maria Gray, Jean Carrere, Enrico Corradini, and Gualtiero Castellini
The allusion, it goes without saying, is directed at the imminent conflict between the US and the USSR. But the timing and content of the accusations have all the air of a red herring, as the judicial investigation would soon confirm.
The Communists feel the pinch
The Communists have nothing to do with it. The Soviets have nothing to do with it, but neither do the militants and leaders of the PCI, who nevertheless feel the pinch and respond promptly in the press, as historian Giuseppe Parlato documents in his Fascisti senza Mussolini (Il Mulino, Bologna 2006).
According to the Communists, the culprits were (needless to say) the "neo-fascists and reactionaries." The Communists' controversy, even though they initially announced their intention to post a manifesto denouncing the attack, ended there. In fact, the evidence against the blacks was never released, and the investigation took a completely different direction, partly for one reason: in the meantime, some claims of responsibility had emerged.
The Bombs of Zion
The British found no peace, despite the war being over and won (although much more by the Americans than by them).
A few months before the events on Via XX Settembre, the institutions of the United Kingdom suffered a decidedly more brutal and bloody attack. On July 22, 1946, a massive explosive charge blew up the King David Hotel in Jerusalem, home to the British administration in Palestine. Ninety-one people died, over half of whom were officials of Her Majesty and the rest were hotel staff.
Furthermore, 41 of the dead are Arabs, 28 are from the United Kingdom, 17 are Palestinian Jews, and the others are Armenians (2), Russians (1), Greeks (1), and Egyptians (1).
To these must be added approximately 46 injured.
The King David Hotel in Jerusalem, headquarters of the British administration, was devastated by Israeli bombs.
The attack was organized by the Irgun Tzvai Leumi (or, depending on the source, Irgun Zwai Leumi) in response to the continuous crackdowns that British administrators are imposing in Palestine in a vain attempt to manage public order in an explosive situation, in which the conflict between Arabs and Jews is already taking the form of a fierce guerrilla war and is about to explode at a political level.
The Irgun Tzvai Leumi (which means: National Military Organization) is an extremist paramilitary body, born following a split in the Haganah (literally: Defense), the official paramilitary group of Jewish nationalists. Both are inspired by the Zionist Revisionist Movement, founded by Vladimir Yevgenyevich Jabotinsky (also known as Jabotinsky), one of the founding fathers of Zionism. To use a contemporary measure, the difference between the Haganah (which doesn't hold back when it comes to beating or being beaten) and the Irgun is the same as that between the right and the far right. This is at the ideological level.
At the operational level, however, the Haganah has a defensive or, at most, reactive role. The Irgun, on the other hand, takes the initiative all too often.
But what does all this have to do with the Rome attack?
The Jewish trail
No conspiracy theories: it is the Irgun men themselves who claim responsibility for the attack in the most provocative way possible.
On November 4th, they mailed the classic claim document from the post office in Piazza San Clodio. More intriguing than the document itself is the signature on the shipping form: Iacobotinski. A distortion, undoubtedly deliberate. But it goes far beyond the allusion. As Italian investigators, duly prodded by the British, know well.
Indeed, the Irgun men had been present (and operational) in Italy since shortly before the end of the war. And they gained support and followers in the numerous refugee camps that housed many of their fellow believers who survived the Holocaust.
Vladimir Yevgenyevich Zhabotinsky
Their leader in Italy was Eli Tavin, known as Pesach (Easter), who organized the group and organized two training centers for fighters (or terrorists: let the reader decide): one in Ladispoli and the other in Tricase, in the Lecce province.
Tavin is in excellent company of refugees and former persecuted victims, possibly angrier than he is. They are the Poles Aba Churman, Natan Rzepkowicz, Chono Steingarten, and Girsh Guta, the Romanian Dov Gurwitz, and the Italian Tiburzio Deitel. This operative group chose an apartment in a rather unusual area as its headquarters: on Via Sicilia, right near the headquarters of the Allied Secret Services. Is this really a coincidence?
Tavin and his men certainly considered the British Embassy in Italy to be the center of anti-Zionist maneuvers and sentiment (especially since British public opinion is far from immune to anti-Semitism) and therefore an ideal target.
In this effort, they found seemingly unexpected allies: the fascists.
Romualdi's "cantatas": that TNT is fascist
In this case, the claim of responsibility comes quite late. The first to provide details is another fascist: Pino Romualdi, former head of the clandestine Senate and founding father of the MSI.
Romualdi, a fellow citizen and family friend of Mussolini (whom he bears a striking resemblance to), was a journalist during the regime and later deputy secretary of the PFR in Salò and a federal secretary in Parma. At the end of 1946, he had recently emerged from hiding thanks to the Togliatti amnesty. However, he is not safe: he faces a very serious charge of having ordered the summary execution of a group of partisans in Parma.
Meanwhile, Romualdi was getting by as best he could, thanks to a commercial front, financed with funds allocated by the RSI and, perhaps, thanks to the involvement of the Navy's Intelligence Service and, in particular, Admiral Agostino Calosi, already known for having helped save Borghese and for helping the Israelis recruit veterans of the X MAS to counter the British.
From left, Pino Romualdi and Giorgio Almirante
Romualdi possessed exceptional political qualities: a keen tactical sense, equally great realism, and remarkable unscrupulousness. Accustomed to playing with multiple decks of cards at multiple tables, he negotiated secretly with the new anti-fascist leaders to secure the opportunity to create the MSI, but in the meantime, he founded the FAR (Fasci di azione Rivoluzione Rivoluzione), a group halfway between a clandestine movement and a political sect.
On several occasions, Romualdi, now secure as a member of parliament for the Italian Social Movement (MSI), claimed to have sold the TNT used to make the bombs to the Irgun commandos. He allegedly obtained it from a cache of weapons and explosives left over from Salò (which the FAR would draw upon in the following months to carry out clandestine bombings).
Romualdi's testimony is supported by statements given in 2006 by his daughter Marina and Carlo Dinale (third son of the former fascist prefect Neos and, at the time, Romualdi's collaborator).
Pino Romualdi adds another detail to his testimony: the Irgun emissary who contacted him to deliver the explosives said his name was Jabotinsky.
Which can't be possible: the real Jabotinsky died in the US in 1940.
Last but not least, the testimony of another longtime collaborator of Romualdi's: former Undersecretary of Foreign Affairs and former Senator Alfredo Mantica, who evokes the assassination attempt during a face-to-face meeting with Cossiga in the Massacres Commission.
The Dead Man's Roundup
In any case, the Irgun claimed responsibility for the attack for a long time and threatened others. But the game was stopped in time. In fact, the police and Carabinieri arrested nine people throughout Italy, starting with Eli Tavin.
Among them, there was one who attempted to escape: Israel Zeev Epstein, who scaled the prison walls with a rope on December 27, 1946. A soldier on sentry duty noticed him and ordered him to stop, but to no avail. He then shot and hit the fugitive in the stomach, who died of his wounds a few hours later.
However, the trial ended in a drunken stupor. First, under pressure from the Allied (i.e., US) command, the eleven defendants were released and went into hiding.
But they nevertheless found an excellent lawyer: Giovanni Persico, a former Democratic Party member of parliament who had just returned to politics with the nascent PSDI.
Israeli soldiers during the 1948 war
Among others, Persico, undersecretary in the Parri and De Gasperi governments, is a longtime Freemason and a close friend of Jabotinsky...
The lawyer, with a substantial support network within Italian institutions and some within the US command and intelligence community, maneuvers smoothly and limits the damage.
The trial begins five years after the events. Israel pressures Italy not to prosecute the attackers, and Italy responds in kind: the judiciary imposes light sentences, ranging from sixteen to eight months for all defendants, while the government overturns everything with a series of amnesties.
An epilogue for conspiracy theorists
Nothing happens. But also for the Irgun, which is forced to disband a few months later because even the Jewish agencies now consider it cumbersome.
However, his men aren't left idle: the hard-core militiamen join the Army (IDF), where they have every opportunity to fight and advance their careers, and the politicians join right-wing parties.
In other words, everything suggests that Israeli leaders used the Irgun to apply pressure and then traded it for political recognition.
The trial for the Rome events is emblematic: it began with a cursory investigation and ended with a trial held in the nick of time. That is, when Israel has been a sovereign state for three years and therefore protects the bombers from hiding.
The discussion about the fascists is more nuanced. In this regard, at least one question must be asked: why did pro-Arabist Pino Romualdi, future supporter of Mattei and later sympathizer of Khomeini, sell TNT to the Jews?
Prince Junio Valerio Borghese
Certainly, the fascists' anti-British hatred explains a lot. And it also explains a lot that they were broke and therefore turned to various kinds of trafficking to get by.
All this, however, does not rule out a more or less open and unscrupulous role for our intelligence services, which knocked on the door of their comrades to do things that no member of the institutions would do lightly, at least on a political level.
This can be seen, for example, in Calosi's contemporary mediation between Borghese's men and the nascent Israeli Navy.
There is nothing to prevent the Italian intelligence services from encouraging this deal as well. For the fascists, it would have had a more important reward than money: the definitive green light for the founding of the MSI, which would take place on December 26, 1946, with the immediate recognition of institutional eligibility for those who served and led it.
Going further, in the absence of evidence, is impossible: it would mean delving into pure speculation. Fascinating as they may be, but still just speculation.
