Personally I think they allowed them to take away Maduro. After months of negotiations they agreed on a safe corridor for the helos. One or two men shot one or two Igla and that's all. At least now there are still 4998 Iglas in the country. All been orchestrated and seasoned with some psy-war tales, "direct energy weapons" or "Area 51 Alien technology weapons" which can "paralyze a man at 3 miles of distance" ("OH, see ...? .... this is why they didn't fire any MANPADS ..!..!..").

CARACAS (Reuters) - Venezuela possesses 5,000 Russian-made MANPADS surface-to-air weapons, according to a military document reviewed by Reuters, the largest known stockpile in Latin America and a source of concern for U.S. officials amid the country's mounting turmoil.....
There are several videos of MANPADS being fired off and then 30 seconds or so later the area they fired from getting creamed with missiles and 30mm fire.

You try to sell goods you don't own. Only one manpads fired has been caught in a footage.
The remaining footage show no sign of AS activity.
Other alleged videos, providentially uploaded in the following days may be highly suspicious (A.I. video?) because many would sell that raid as being real (= with real kinetic opposition), and not a calm flying motorcade to free the Chavistas of a ballast (Maduro) opposing "business" as usual with the hated US.
Again, there's no footage of a serious AA response by Venezuelan army, contrary to what some here are trying to assert, that "many manpads were fired". There's only ONE video of only ONE Igla shot which probably could have been an error, a guy to whom the order to keep MANPADS shut was not delivered.
Again: the ones supporting a "strong Venezuelan AA fire", pls, bring here evidence or accept the fact that :
1) somewhat an agreement was reached in the previous months with "the enemy" to let the raid go undisturbed
2) eventual future footage of "strong MANPADS fire" is only an Artificial Intelligence Fake.

Why they preferred Rodriguez over Machado ?
The common interpretation is that the President is jealous for the Nobel Peace Prize assigned to Machado, not to him. But I believe this is only a fake given to the media. In putting Rodriguez you have a weak replacement of Maduro, she's not only blackmailed by the threat of another blitz to kidnap (or kill her), the greatest blackmail is Machado's political competition - if unleashed could overwhelm the Chavistas at the power.
Why so they prefer Rodry instead of Machy ? Being weaker, Rodriguez will join the most absurd demands of the Emperor of the Americas in Washington DC.
If the same requests (in the field of oil exploitation, military defense, etc.) would be addressed to an eventual presidency of Machado, they would be repelled and the true blackmailed ones would be the guys in the Whitehouse, who would show the world their real face.
Therefore Rodryguez, with two guns at the temple, Delta Force at the right, Machado at the left, will do the classical "dirty job" to sell the whole wealth of the nation to the Devil's Piranhas ruling now the US.
